AGM 2025

AGM Report

The most important news of CAB for this September 21, 2025 is the Annual General Meeting of the members. A notice of this meeting was given in due time and the subject of discussion of items were also posted in the notice of the meeting. The following items were included for discussion.

  1. CAB bylaws Amendment proposal and voting during the meeting.
  2. NABC contract amendment.
  3. Proposal to change CAB incorporation

CAB is a long-standing organization and its complex activities demand a clear-cut direction how to operate on a day-to-day basis abiding by all the rules and regulations as mandated by the bylaws of the Organization. The decade old current bylaws, the guiding force of CAB activities seemed to be fragile and obsolete for the purpose of maintaining and implementation of the Organization’s goal.

Forty-seven members attended this virtual meeting. The meeting was started with a warm welcome to the members by the General Secretary Sri Partha S Chakraborty and he handed over the meeting to the President Dr. Ashok Rakhit. After welcoming the members Dr. Rakhit requested the Board of Trustee Chairman Mr. Gopendu Chakrabarti.

Chairman Mr. Chakrabarti mentioned how hard the bylaws Committee worked to bring about these necessary changes which will make the functions of CAB more efficient, accurate and transparent.  President Dr. Ashok Rakhit explained that he was trying to work together with Board of Trustee which was non-existent before rather there was a struggle of power between Board of Trustees and Executive Committee. He explained pointedly why the amendment is needed and answered all questions asked by the attending members in the meeting. He also assured that after the amendment, the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee will be working harmoniously with one another to bring better results for functioning in the Organization.

He also explained the negative effects of registering in the State Education Department of NY State. He argued that due to this registration in State Education , it is difficult to render many official chores and often requires registration in the Office of Secretary of State, of NY State. At the end he  recommended that members agree to form a new Corporation in the Office of the State Secretary of New York State. After the President’s discussion, the session of question and answer began and President and the spokes-person for bylaws committee Mr. Surajit Sengulpta addressed all the questions coming from the members. After this discussion, a vote was taken on these amendments and they all were accepted by the members with a substantial margin of approval. A vote of thanks ended the meeting. It was very encouraging to see so many members attended this Annual General Meeting of the year 2025.
